A little about me and

 what I currently do.

I currently work as an ‘Optical Advisor’ in an opticians. My role is quite varied as I work across the clinic daily.
From manning the front desk, where it’s my job to make a great first impression for the business, to sitting privately with patients to complete their spectacle order, I always try my best to deal with the patient with the best possible customer service.

Asda Opticians  / Optical Advisor

April 2016 - PRESENT,  ASDA OPTICIANS CHAPELTOWN, SHEFFIELD

  • Man the practice reception area -  Answering the phone and booking appointments, giving general advice and dealing with complaints whenever possible to do so.
  • Greet customers and ascertain customers' needs.
  • Measure patients’ pupil distance and the optical center of eyes using measuring devices (PD ruler, Pupilometer, center heights).
  • Heat and shape plastic and metal frames by hand or with appropriate tools to ensure a comfortable fit for the patient.
  • Assist patients with the selection of frames according to style and colour, and ensure that frames are coordinated with facial and eye measurements, and optical prescriptions.
  • Evaluate prescriptions in conjunction with patients' vocational and avocational visual requirements.
  • Maintain records of customer prescriptions, work orders and payments.
  • Recommend specific lenses, lens coatings and frames to suit patients' requirements.
  • Educate patients on contact lens wear and care.
  • Teach patients to safely insert and remove contact lenses
  • Conduct pre-screening examinations.
  • Stepping in for management when needed.
  • Act as a coach for new starters, by giving relevant training.
